So I was way to exhausted to post pictures of the Fourth on the Fourth, and I am way too burnt out to write much today, so instead I will share those pictures with you tonight.
I’ve become a bit of a fanatic about bunting lately. I used to hate folksy Americana-type decorations which usually meant not much decorating for the Fourth, but then all of that changed, and I spent quite a bit of time at the craft store searching out the best scrapbook paper to make this bunting. Perhaps I have gone crazy. Or perhaps the country air is starting to get to me. Either way, if you would have told me ten years ago that I would have decorated with this, I would have called your bluff.
Before Magoo was born, I went out and bought her this adorable little Fourth of July dress. It was actually one of the first outfits I purchased for her. Perhaps that’s where my love of Fourth outfits started. But one thing is for certain — it’s much more expensive to buy for three little girls than one. Luckily, Gymboree had a clearance sale that morning, so I got great deals on these skirts and hats.
And here are my little firecrackers. Sadly the coloring was off on my photos for most of the day, and I was only able to slightly improve it through editing.
And so that was our Fourth. I posted the other day about how special it was. Probably my favorite moments were during the actual fireworks. Goosie was laying on my lap, and just as her eyelids would start to droop, another would go off, and she would slowly open them. Until she didn’t. Then she spent the rest of the show asleep in my arms.
It was Mae’s first fireworks, and even she got into them. TJ held her, and she would lift her little head off of his chest to watch them whenever one would go off. But like her big sister, she too fell asleep less than halfway through.
Independence Day always feels a bit like Christmas in July to me. I’m sad that it’s over, but the end of the Fourth just means we are one step closer to Halloween. I guess I have to go dig out my sewing machine…
