Ready for some random photo fun?
Last weekend, we went to a Fall festival. We had a great time but unfortunately did not come home with too many great pictures. Magoo got to ride a pony, and both girls went into a mini petting zoo with TJ while I patiently waited outside because goats freak me out. I think the highlight, however, was them getting to paint their own pumpkins. We learned the hard way last year that these painted pumpkins quickly lose their paint if you keep them outside, so Magoo’s is now proudly sitting on our kitchen counter. The Goose kept trying to eat the paint, so she just got to play with the pumpkin while we waited for Magoo to finish her handiwork.
Magoo has been loving preschool. Each day she comes home with new paintings, and about once a week she comes home with a new more intricate art project. This week was their apple week, so they read stories about apples, and she came home and told me all about apple blossoms. They ended their week by baking their own mini apple pies. I think she might be the first person in our little family to have made her own apple pie. It was good.
Last week they made these little bear ornaments. It’s hanging on our thermostat until we put up the Christmas tree in a couple of months. It seems an odd project to make in September, but she is quite proud of it. It is very sparkly in true Magoo fashion.
Today she apparently did a very good job helping the teacher clean up, so she got to pick something out of the “S” bag. (It was S week in phonics.) She chose this snake and will not let it out of her sight.
In other news, we decided to pull the plug on our garden this evening. Our tomatoes simply were not turning red, and the ones that did, were getting eaten almost immediately — probably by the chipmunk that sits at our back door harassing my poor dog all day. We have a whole fridge full of green tomatoes that we’ll have to ripen in brown bags. The girls has a blast picking them all.
For some reason, I’m particularly proud of our green peppers. We’ve never had a veggie garden before, and we only managed to grow two green peppers, but they were impressive ones, and since they are one of Magoo’s all time favorite foods, she was quite excited to finally get to harvest them.
We used some of our veggies to make a skillet for dinner this evening. Just in case you were wondering 😉
And now for some true randomness, here’s a modge podge of some photos from this week that made me smile.
And perhaps this is my favorite. Magoo swore up and down on the way home from preschool today that she did not need to take a nap. This was her less than five minutes after laying down. She’s all cuddled up with her new snake. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. The essence of this is what I wish I could bottle and save for some cold, lonely day years from now when they are no longer little. Memories like this will keep me warm for a lifetime.
