Well, I guess this weekend marks the end of it — the end of summer 2012. I can’t help but be a bit sad because we missed out on so much this summer due to the heat. I just couldn’t bring myself to spend hours on end outside when the temperature was nearing 110.
But regardless, we have made up for it in the last couple of weeks.
Just yesterday, I decided that it would be a good idea to finger paint outside. After all, one spray with the hose and everything would be cleaned up.
Here’s Magoo’s masterpiece:
And here is the Goose’s:
Yup — the only “canvas” she managed to get any paint on was her hair. She looks like one of those little old ladies at church with blue hair.
Today we went to a local splash pad — twice. We went there on a play date this morning, and then we decided to take TJ there this afternoon when he got home from work. It’s amazing how entertaining a bunch of sprinklers and a few old plastic cups can be for two little kids.
The Goose spent most of her time filling up her cup with water from one of the tiny sprinklers while Magoo would occasionally fill up a cup and dump it all over the Goose’s back. The funny thing was that the Goose was wearing a diaper, so she never even noticed when she would get dumped on.
I love this expression. It is quintessential Goose. By the way, in our home, she pretty much exclusively answers to “Goosie” these days. Try as I may, we barely ever call her by her actual name. “The Goose” just somehow is very fitting. I guess it’s no worse than what I call her sister — I usually just call her “Goo.” Sweet huh?
It took TJ quite awhile to convince Magoo to go in the sprinkler “tunnel.” I’m so glad he finally convinced her though because I love this picture.
And that’s about it. There’s not a whole lot to report about over here. Just enjoying the last of the summer we have left and looking forward to apple picking and going to the pumpkin farm and all of the other adventures that Autumn brings.
Have a great Labor Day!
